Dear Mom,
I have suddenly realized that it has been two weeks since I
wrote home. I am sorry that I have waited so long. I haven’t
been feeling so well lately. I miss that Florida sunshine
that I was enjoying this time last year. I was glad
to hear that Ray and Loyd George paid a visit. I guess
that they had a pleasant Thanksgiving.
I was lucky enough to get all my Christmas boxes
before Christmas. I received the three from the family
all right. Thanks very much for everything. “Thanks”
from my friends for the cake, candy, etc. On Christmas
Eve about six of us bought a case of Coke. We sat around
till late talking about other Christmases and eating
fruit-cake and drinking coke. We got up in time for
dinner Christmas day – Turkey with all the trimmings,
English peas, mashed potatoes, apple pie, ice cream, and coffee.
It was very good. All you wanted of any of it.
I’ve worried a good bit about Loyd. Haven’t had his
address since he was in the hospital.
Love,
Lawrence
